Dieses Album enthält neue Versionen von David Olney-Songs, die unter anderem von Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle, Willis Alan Ramsey, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Mary Gauthier, Jim Lauderdale und Buddy Miller aufgenommen wurden. Die Trackliste wird außerdem durch eine nie zuvor veröffentlichte Live-Aufnahme von Townes Van Zandt bereichert.
Ursprünglich aus Rhode Island stammend, zog Olney Anfang der 70er Jahre nach Nashville und schloss sich einer Gruppe von Songwritern an, zu denen Townes Van Zandt, John Hiatt, Steve Earle, Guy Clark und Rodney Crowell gehörten. Mit seiner Rockband David Olney and the X-Rays ging er unermüdlich auf Tournee. Er veröffentlichte eine Reihe brillanter Alben, und seine Songs wurden von Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle, Del McCoury, Linda Ronstadt und vielen anderen aufgenommen. Aber die hellen Lichter des Ruhms haben David nie beschienen, und er starb so, wie er gelebt hat: auf der Bühne eines Clubs, weit weg von zu Hause, und sang ein Lied. Dieses Album versammelt einige von Davids Freunden und Kollegen, um seine einzigartige Vision zu würdigen.
Viele dieser Künstler sind selbst Legenden; alle sind hier, weil sie den Mann und seine Lieder zutiefst bewundern und respektieren.

"There is an enormous and curiously shaped hole in the story of the Glands, the on-again/mostly off-again duo or quartet or sometimes quintet but let’s just say band from Athens, Georgia, who released only two albums of weird, irascible, irresistible indie rock before band leader Ross Shapiro died in 2016. He wrote the songs, he sang the songs, he played guitar, and he gathered around him a bunch of close friends to play them. He inspired many people around town, frustrated many others, and generally proved to be a painstaking artist with an ear for catchy melodies, a very grim sense of humor, a taste for reheated Dunkin' Donuts coffee, a supernaturally exhaustive knowledge of Grateful Dead bootlegs, and a creativity that extended beyond music to the strange portraits he painted and the odd shapes he sculpted."
