85er Album, das sowohl von der Rhythmik als auch den Arrangements her damals für manche nicht einfach zu verdauen war. Die 19 Songs und 54 Minuten waren durchaus anstregend, aber wenn man sich mit ihnen einließ, wurde man reichlich belohnt. Sehr gute Songs und die Arrangements zwischen harschem, swampigem Blues, New Orleans spirit, rüden Rockern und beseelten Balladen, mit experimentellen Percussion (von Michael Blair) und großartiger Gitarrenarbeit ( speziell von Marc Ribot)... Mit Abstand betrachtet, eins seiner allerbesten Alben.„Der Charles Bukowski des Rock torkelt mit knarzender, whiskygeschwängerter Stimme durch göttlich schräge Songs wie Singapore - und ist allemal ein Garant für extemen Individualismus.“ (Audio)
