Mit "man trifft sich immer zwei Mal im Leben oder "full circle" könnte man den Steve Wynn Zwischenstop bei Glitterhouse beschreiben. Im richtigen Leben mittlerweile bei Blue Rose gelandet, ist die Ur-GH-Mannschaft schon seit der allerersten Dream Syndicate 12" auf Down There erklärter Wynn-Fan.
Nach zwei Veröffentlichungen auf Return To Sender sollte man glauben, Steve hätte nichts brauchbares mehr in den Archiven. Aber die elf Studioaufnahmen (durchweg mit voller Band - Linda Pitmon/drums, Chris Brokaw/guitar, Tom Maimone/bass und anderen Gästen aus der langen Karriere des Mannes eingespielt), die er hier ausgegraben hat, sind alles andere als Outtakes.
Das reicht vom Hollies Cover "The Air That I Breathe" (mit Eric Ambel), zwei Versionen von "Smoke From A Distant Flame" (einmal Banjo, einmal Rock), dem "James River Incident", der mit seinen 5:20 Minuten direkt von "Days Of Wine And Roses" stammen könnte, bis zum ebenfalls feedbackgetränkten Gitarren-Monolith "Halfway To the Afterlife". Das ganze schließt mit einer astreinen Uptempo-Version von "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad", im Original von, jawoll, Derek & The Dominoes. Hut ab, Herr Wynn!
Kommt im doppelt klappbaren Digifile (wie Duane Jarvis) und sieht auch noch verdammt gut aus.

Steve Wynn has been a busy man lately. Not only did he release a Mailorder album for the German Return To Sender label, he also recorded for Blue Rose, who put out his"My Midnight" album (that came with a limited live-CD).
He dug deep into his vaults and came up with 11 great unreleased studio songs that are almost too good to be released this limited way. Which makes us even more proud to be able to present you "The Air That I Breathe" (Hollies cover with Eric Ambel), two versions of "Smoke From A Distant Flame" (one acoustic, one electric), the scorching "James River Incident" (glorious 5:20 minutes sounding like early Dream Syndicate), another feedback-drenched rocker titled "Halfway To The Afterlife" and the uptempo album closer "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad", originally done by Derek & The Dominoes.
Musicians are Linda Pitmon/drums, Chris Brokaw/guitar and Tom Maimone/bass amongst others.
"Pick Of the Litter" comes in a double fold-out Digifile, which is about the nicest way one can package a compact disc. And you can only get it through us (or at Steve´s shows).
