Vierter Longplayer meiner israelischen Lieblingsband. Live eine Sensation, obwohl ganz ohne Vocals und auch die Qualität der Platten hat sich mittlerweile herumgesprochen. Der Style ist nah- bis mittelöstlich, funky, soulig, cineastisch, psychedelisch und oft tanzbar. Auch die 11 Instrumentals des neuen Albums sind schlank produziert und entwickeln mit eleganter Leichtigkeit diesen unwiderstehlich orientalischen Groove. Es beginnt mit dunklem Instrumental-Beat und Orgel-Drive, irgendwo an der Schnittstelle von Budos Band und „In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida“. Kristallklar produziert und elegant im mittleren Tempo groovend, stehen die Zeichen der Zeit auf frühe 70er. Dunkel-psychedelisch, aber dennoch erstaunlich luftig groovend. Die Gitarre setzt coole WahWah-Akzente, teils dominiert die Vintage-Orgel (oder butterweicher Moog), teils die Gitarre oder beide zusammen in perfekter Harmonie. Oft wird das richtig funky, teils auch erkennbar cineastisch mit wissendem 70er Vibe. Und die Melodien schmeicheln sich immer auf direktem Weg ins Ohr. Am östlichen Mittelmeer laufen türkische, griechische und arabische Musikkulturen zusammen Sababa 5 (übrigens ein Quartett) zaubern daraus ein smoothes und in sich ruhendes Hybrid all dieser Stile.
