22er. Aus New York, mit kolumbianischen Wurzeln. Außerordentlich, sehr attraktiv und ziemlich neuartig, ich kenne zumindest nichts Vergleichbares. Die Sängerin changiert zwischen raumfüllend und ein wenig strahlend, ausgesprochen „direkt“ und immens emotional, einem Mix aus fordernd und fast verzweifelt, die Musik verwendet jede Menge verschiedene Latin-Elemente (beileibe nicht nur Cumbia, aber das auch), moderne westliche wie traditionsverhaftete Beats, Polyrhythmik wie geradlinige Grooves (was schon mal alles ineinanderfließt), öfters (west)afrikanische Einflüsse (vor allem durch die Gitarren, die im Übrigen neben Synthie den Sound bestimmen), und immer wieder aufs Effektivste enorm reizvolle psychedelische Klänge. Sporadisch sogar ganz dezente Dub-Anleihen oder eine Art aktualisierten/manipulierten Electronica-Downbeat. Das Ergebnis wirkt mal ungemein „dringlich“ und intensiv, mal in der Geradlinigkeit und Groove-Betonung „kommerzieller“, mehrfach quasi wie „Latin Psychedelic Trance“ (eine Spur angejazzt und hoch atmosphärisch/hallreich, balladesk oder schleppend hypnotisch), wechselweise tanzend und suggestiv (sowie sehr zeitgenössisch), regelrecht jagend (rhythmisch toll!). Und teilweise repetitiv angelegt. Mir gefällt nicht jeder Aspekt/jede Phase des Albums, aber vieles ist absolut faszinierend! (detlev von duhn)
