Fünftes Album von Georg Conrad und Marius Bubat. Die beiden Kölner haben eine interessante Karriere hinter sich und entwickelten sich vom Electro-Act auf Kompakt zu einer modernen Popband, mittlerweile bei City Slang zuhause.

Die beiden zaubern kühl inszenierten Elektropop mit herzerwärmenden Melodien. Teils noch unaufdringlich floortauglich wird hier klassische Pop-Grandezza mit ganz wunderbaren Melodien gefeiert. Soundästhetisch in den 80er verwurzelt (Depeche Mode schimmern öfters durch), mit kühlen Synthiesounds aus der Retro-Kiste. Dennoch klingen die eingängigen Songs topmodern. Zweistimmig-verhallt gesungen überzeugen mich die eleganten Keyboardlinien, die flockigen Elektro-Grooves und vor allem die erstaunliche Qualität der Songs.

Besonders das dunkel-melancholische „Disconnected“ mit Gitarrenbasis finde ich sehr betörend, auch „Beyond You And Me“ mit Gastsängerin Dillon, die der spannenden Melodieführung ganz eigene Akzente zu milder House-Grundierung verleiht finde ich sehr überzeugend! Coma spielen wunderschönen, melancholischen Elektropop mit Dreampop-Anklängen und minimaler Spacigkeit, aber auch mit tanzbaren Beats für mich ein perfektes postmodernes Popalbum mit jüngerem Geschichtsbewusstsein. Tracks like 'Space', 'Hideout', and 'Start/Stop/Rewind' catapult COMA into the musical vicinity of the Pet Shop Boys, Hot Chip, and the more recent Depeche Mode. 'FUZZY FANTASY' is the result of an astonishing transformation, though in retrospect, not entirely surprising.
