Fünftes Album des amerikanischen Duos, die letzten vier erschienen alle bei Soul Jazz Records, wo man ansonsten ja nur selten klassische Artist-Alben veröffentlicht. Interessanter Fakt: Trees Speak sind ein Vater-Sohn-Duo. Daniel Martin Diaz und Damian Diaz liefern hier gleich 31 instrumentale Tracks ab (Doppel-Vinyl kommt mit Bonus-7-Inch). In diesen 90 Minuten finden erneut Cineastisches, Kraut und Postpunk zusammen. Drums und Tasteninstrumente bestimmen den Sound, teils vorsichtig avantgardistisch, insgesamt aber doch problemlos goutierbar. Vieles erinnert an Filmmusik (auch wegen der Kürze der Stücke), mit dichten Atmosphären und am Rande auch immer mit echten Instrumenten (Cembalo, Flöte, Giatrre aber auch Plektrum-E-Bass). Eine Affinität zur frühen Berliner Kraut-Schule und auch etwas Kraftwerk ist erkennbar, ebenso aber auch eine vage Verwandtschaft mit Scores von John Carpenter und Tangerine Dream (80er Filmmusiken für „The Thief“ und „Sorcerer“). Die Stimmung bleibt meistens kühl und milde spacig, die Kontraste zwischen den einzelnen Tracks sind doch recht groß. Industrial-Vibe trifft auf Streicher, Noise auf schwebenden Synthie-Soundscapes, Vocoder-Voices auf Xylophon, jazzige Sixties-Sounds auf kosmisch-psychedelische Effekte. Mir fehlt in diesem üppigen Melting Pot an Sounds zwar ein wenig Struktur, die Fülle der Tracks bietet aber doch etliche Highlights an genresprengender, spannender Musik. Letztlich eine prall gefüllte Wundertüte für eine aufgeschlossene Hörerschaft. (Joe Whirlypop)
