Mit »The Journey Part 2« folgt nun die Fortsetzung der schönen von Ray Davies selbst kuratierten Anthology
Diese Veröffentlichung enthält Musik von den Alben Face To Face, The Kink Kontroversy, Something Else, The Village Green Preservation Society, Lola Versus Powerman and The Moneygoround, Muswell Hillbillies, Everybody's In Show-Biz, Preservation Acts 1 & 2 und A Soap Opera.
Sie enthält Singles, B-Seiten, Albumtracks und vor allem sechs neue Ray Davies-Mixe, von denen drei bisher unveröffentlichte Live-Auftritte aus dem New Victoria Theatre in London von 1975 sind.
Über diese Veröffentlichung sagte Ray Davies: »Ich dachte, ich wüsste alles über meine Songs, bis ich die Gelegenheit bekam, diese Platte zusammenzustellen. Die neue Sequenzierung hat es uns ermöglicht, das ›große Ganze‹ zu zeigen und eine aufschlussreichere Hintergrundgeschichte darüber zu geben, wie sich unsere Musik entwickelt hat. Ich habe viel über mich selbst gelernt, als ich das Album zusammenstellte.«
Der Ton wurde von Kevin Gray in den Cohearent Studios in LA unter der Aufsicht von Andrew Sandoval neu gemastert..
