Zeitgemäßer Sound aus Soweto, ausnahmsweise mal nicht auf Glitterbeat Records BCUC würden dort aber auch gut ins Programm passen. Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness (so der volle Name) sind sieben Leute und spielen futuristischen Ethno-Funk mit massivem Bass und vielstimmigen Vocals und sind damit inzwischen weltweit erfolgreich. Die Beats variieren fiebrigen Funk mit komplexer afrikanischer Rhythmik, was vor allem live die Füße kaum stillhalten lässt. Der elastische E-Bass ist tatsächlich das dominierende Instrument im überwiegend schlanken Sounddesign, das von kontrastreichen (auch mal etwas weirden) männlichen und weiblichen Stimmen mit diversen südafrikanischen Dialekten gefüllt wird. Das wirkt kaum folkloristisch, sondern viel mehr modern bis futuristisch vor allem aber extrem hypnotisch. Aufgenommen in Soweto und gemixt in London ist man hier hart am Puls der immer kleiner werdenden Welt. State-of-the-Art im Bereich Afrofuturismus und ein ziemlicher Trip. (Joe Whirlypop)
