26er der Engländer, inzwischen richtig groß in der Heimat, mit LP Nr. 4 (die ersten 3 waren klasse). Über eine Stunde lang, 3 kurze Spoken Poetry-Texte sind dabei, ebenfalls dreimal Gast-Sängerinnen, einmal ein afrikanischer Rapper. Erneut stehen wirkungsvolle bzw. vorzügliche mitreißende Grooves im Zentrum, die Rhythmik ist relativ variabel (vor allem (mittel-) amerikanische Einflüsse, bestechende Polyrhythmik, deutlich zeitgenössischer im Verein mit Südamerika, wieder auffallend mehr Reggae als zuletzt, etwas weniger (West-) Afrika, kaum noch Afrobeat). Das schon früher verwendete 70s-Flair in einigen Stücken ist erneut präsent, die Bläsersätze (z.T. zuständig für die Melodik) sowieso, das E-Piano erhält eine verstärkte Bedeutung. Die Trompete sticht mehrfach heraus, ob relaxt-melodiös, dem Früh-70er Reggae-verpflichtet oder (gern) jazzig solierend, in einzelnen Stücken zudem: Dub-Spritzer, wunderbare Piano-Motive, ein attraktives Orgel-Solo, eine minimalistische E-Piano-Begleitung, die an Früh/Mittel-70er Fusion erinnert, ein tolles tiefes Piano-Rollen, leichtfüßige Karibik-Elemente, R´n´B-Infusionen, packende klassisch-kubanische Bläser, ein wenig Salsa oder Latin updated, ein Reggae-Jazz-R´n´B-Groove-Balladen-Mix, der aus der Rolle fällt (und lange nur vom Piano-Trio begleitet wird), mehr Fusion-Anleihen, die auf D´n´B-Tendenzen treffen (sehr schnell), ein komplett jazzbetontes Piano. Ich freue mich, dass derart gute Bands (zumindest in England) jetzt auch für die großen Festivals gebucht werden. (detlev von duhn)
