Früher hätten manche gesagt, eine „Supergroup“ (ex-Galaxie 500, Luna, Spacemen 3), naja. Auf jeden Fall bei dieser Besetzung überraschend, nämlich eine Art Weihnachts-Album, mit vor allem alten Klassikern oder weniger bekannten Songs aus den 40ern bis 60ern; z.B. Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy, You´re All I Want For Christmas, Christmas Can´t Be Far Away, Silver Snowflakes (Greensleeves ohne den Originaltext), aber auch Stille Nacht teils in Deutsch, Songs von Willie Nelson, David Berman (Silver Jews), John Lennons Happy Xmas (War Is Over), Merle Haggard, Randy Newman. Das klingt dann einerseits nach uraltem Pop/old fashioned in z.T. Weihnachtsstimmung, andererseits kommt sowas wie sanfter doch Sequencer-unterlegter Synth-Space-Soft Psyche (im Kontrast zum „altmodischen“ Gesang) raus, oder „Songwriter-Folk-Space“ (völlig relaxt), „Indie-Xmas-(Folk)-Pop“ mit 40er Melodie, ein Mix aus Folk, Pop und Klassik-Spuren (in sich ruhend), zwischendurch ein bisschen altes Country-Flair oder untergründig dezent dunkel. In der Presse war u.a. von Nancy & Lee-Ähnlichkeiten zu lesen. Psyche-Spuren in minimaler Dosis sind mehrfach zu hören, Harmonie sehr oft. Erstaunlich, allein schon die Idee. (detlev von duhn)
