Zweites Album nach dem furiosen 2019er Debüt beim tollen Schweizer Label Bongo Joe jetzt neu bei Glitterbeat! Wobei der Sound der Truppe gar nicht so fernöstlich ist, wie der Bandname vermuten lässt. Zwar gibt es exotische Saiteninstrumente, obskure Percussion und chinesisch anmutende Harmonien, im Vordergrund steht aber lässigster Disco-Funk. So richtig Spät-70er und Früh-80er, mit Chic-Licks, Conga-Beat, Sequencer und Handclaps. Das Ganze groovt wie Hölle und hat einen verlockend-exotischen Anstrich. Die Band kommt tatsächlich aus den Niederlanden, wie ihre neuen Labelmates Altin Gün. Der Albumtitel verweist auf hippieselige Esoterik, das New Age von YIN YIN spielt sich allerdings ausnahmslos auf dem funky Dancefloor ab. Die elastischen Grooves werden mit milde fernöstlichen Melodien und Harmonien gewürzt, wie das auch so angesagte Bands wie Khruangbin gerne machen. Die thailändische Langhalslaute Phin trifft auf Twangguitars, richtigen Gesang gibt es kaum (etwas Vocoder-Gesäusel im Hintergrund). So entsteht ein hypnotischer Oriental-Funk mit fernöstlichen Ornamenten. „Age of Aquarius“ klingt nicht nach grauem Maastricht, sondern nach psychedelisch buntem Disco-Shangrila. (Joe Whirlypop)
