Selten hat uns eine Band so vollkommen überzeugt, wie das schwedische Oktett um den charismatischen Frontmann William Hellström und seiner kongenialen Partner Robert Jallinder an der Leadgitarre. Nicht nur, dass ihr hier vorliegender Erstling nur so von herausragenden Songs strotzt, live war das achtköpfige Ensemble aus Stockholm und Göteborg der absolute Hammer, Ihr werdet Euch beim OBS davon überzeugen können. In der englischen Presse bereits mit viel Vorschusslorbeeren bestückt („blindingly bright refrains and soaring vocals echo alongside forceful rhythms and an ominously driving bassline” Line of Best Fit), in Schweden für das dortige Equivalent des Grammys nominiert, ist „Disconnection“ ein überbordendes Fest mitreißender Musik geworden. Acht Songs lang (oder kurz), aber sowas von intensiv, dass es einem das Hirn förmlich wegbläst. Gleichberechtigt treiben Synthies (im Sinne von New Order, MGMT Synthies, also kein zähes oder esoterisches Gewaber) zusammen mit drei (!) E-Gitarren, Violine, bis zu zwei Drummern und einem stoisch-treibenden Bass die Rocker wie „Replace“ oder „In The City“ voran, werden bei den Hymnen „Curtains“ oder „Closer Away“ alle Register unfassbar guter Melodieführung gezogen und in jeder Sekunde wird hier ein Spannungsbogen so dermaßen stimmig und durchdacht aufgebaut, wie es nur alle Jubeljahre vorkommt. Denk an Blaudzun („Promises of No Man’s Land“-Phase) in jünger und aggressiver, denk an frühe MGMT mit viel mehr Wumms. Denk an alles, was wirklich gut war in den letzten Dekaden und addiere noch eigenes Charisma und ganz viel Charakter hinzu, dann bist Du in etwa da, wo Dich Vita Bergen hinführen werden! After releasing the debut ep ”Curtains” on a 500-dollar budget in 2014 Vita Bergen has snowballed into one of the most talked about bands in Sweden: they’ve topped the ITunes charts, played sold out venues in Germany, Switzerland and Scandinavia and are being played on national television in the US. They’ve received several awards in Sweden and is by many believed to be the next big thing on the European indie scene. The singer William Hellström is described as a cult leader on speed and co-founder Robert Jallinder as one of Scandinavia’s most eccentric guitarists. Their uncontrolled, often chaotic live shows have left the band with concussions, nails up their feet and torn apart fingers – and still they say they make pop music.
